5 Highlights of the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO
July 19 2024 - Cody Cook
A grey 2025 Ram 1500 RHO is shown kicking up dust after leaving a Ram dealership.

When it was announced that the Ram 1500 TRX would be discontinued after the 2024 model year, there was plenty of speculation about what would take its place. As your local Ram dealership, we’re happy to announce that we now have the answer: the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO. Like its predecessor, the RHO is an extreme performance option that has everything you need to explore off-road so you can get your thrills while enjoying the fresh air of the great outdoors. Whether you’re already familiar with the TRX and curious how this newcomer is different, or you’re completely new to the world of off-road trucks and looking to learn, we’re going to get you up to speed with five highlights that illustrate what the RHO brings to the table.

#1 - High-Output Hurricane Engine

Under the hood of the RHO is a brand-new 3.0L "Hurricane" High-Output straight-six twin-turbo engine that’s got enough power to send this full-size truck zooming from zero to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds. It produces 540 hp and 521 lb-ft of torque, giving you plenty of power to work with whether you’re crawling up the side of a mountain or letting loose on a wide-open trail. While it’s not quite as powerful as the V8 under the hood of the TRX, it is more efficient, so you can pack more adventure into every gallon of gas. It's also about 150 lbs lighter, giving the truck better balance for peak performance. And if you compare this engine to the 3.5L twin-turbo V6 under the hood of the 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor, you’ll definitely come away knowing that it pays to pick Ram; the Raptor delivers just 450 hp.

#2 - More Affordable Price

The TRX was a fantastic truck, but it was also out of reach for many drivers who wanted to get their hands on it; with a starting price of $96,585, it just wasn’t in the cards for most drivers.[a] While the RHO is still a premium trim, it’s much more accessible thanks to its starting price of $69,995.[a] That $26k price cut makes a big difference for a lot of drivers, and we’re happy to know that we’ll be able to set off-roaders up with the RHO who just wouldn’t be able to afford the TRX.

Ram has managed to bring the truck’s price point down while still delivering the outstanding performance and quality that the brand is known for, making the RHO excellent value. In fact, the RHO offers more horsepower per dollar than any of the premium full-size off-road pickups that it’s competing against. Looking again at the F-150 Raptor, its $78,440 starting price makes it more expensive than the RHO, even though it offers less horsepower.

#3 - Adaptable Suspension

It takes more than just a powerful engine to conquer the elements. You also need a suspension system that’s up to the task. The long-travel off-road tuned suspension on the RHO doesn’t cut any corners when it comes to robust capability. It features high-strength forged aluminum front upper and lower control arms that have been designed to maintain the optimum suspension geometry through their full range of motion. The spring rates, jounce bumper, and damping control have all been re-tuned from what they were on the TRX to improve endurance and performance.

But the RHO isn’t tough and durable at the expense of ride quality. It also offers a smooth and comfortable ride both off-road and on. This is largely thanks to its Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive performance shocks, which use the proprietary Ram Active Terrain Dynamics suspension management system to adapt to factors like speed, throttle, torque, steering angle, braking, and more to provide just the right settings for your particular situation, wherever you go.

#4 - Updated Interior

The Ram 1500 received a redesigned interior for the 2025 model year, getting plenty of exciting new tech features. The RHO benefits from this update, boasting a more modern interior than the one offered on the outgoing TRX. As a high-level trim, the RHO can be equipped with many of the most exciting parts of the upgrade. The larger 14.4-inch touchscreen, front passenger interactive display, dual wireless charging pad, and updated smartphone as key technology are all available on the RHO.

While this tech isn’t specifically designed for off-roading, it’s easy to see how it can come in handy on an off-road excursion. Larger screens make camera angles easier to see, so you can use the cameras to expand your awareness and keep track of what’s around you while you’re in an unpredictable environment. The front passenger display makes it easier for your passenger to take over screen duty while you’re focused on the trail ahead without having to reach over into your space and distract you. And if you can use your smartphone as a key and charge it wirelessly while you drive, you have two fewer things to lose during the chaos of packing, camping, and adventuring.

Like the TRX before it, the RHO also has plenty of great tech that is built with off-roading in mind. The drive mode selector lets you switch between different modes as you move between different environments. Auto is perfect for day-to-day driving, while Tow, Mud/Sand, Rock, Snow, and Baja each alter the settings for a particular situation. Sport mode boosts performance, while Valet mode lets you hand your keys over with confidence. In Custom mode, you can create your own settings to get them just right. Each mode comes with a unique look and layout on the digital gauge display, so you’ll know at a glance which mode you’re in and will have relevant information front and center.

#5 - Tough New Look

The TRX definitely had a style that was all its own, but the new badging for the RHO goes the extra mile to convey a bold attitude and tough-as-nails personality. The new front end looks ready to face down just about anything, with a black grille that proudly spells out "RAM" so everyone on the trail can know what you’re driving. In the cab, the RHO’s special badging features a tough-looking rhinoceros, leading some to speculate whether RHO really stands for “Ram High Output” or is simply short for “rhino.” The rhino is certainly a solid pick for a mascot. Like the Ram 1500 RHO, the rhinoceros is known for being tough and surprisingly quick for its size. And both are at home in wild places, where they know they can conquer any challenge that comes their way.

Come See the New Ram 1500 RHO for Yourself

Each of these five elements is impressive enough in its own right, but the real magic happens when they all come together. Here at Ruge's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, we’re happy to help you get up close and personal with this impressive new performance pickup. We know that once you see it for yourself, you’ll understand what all the hype is about and might even be convinced to take one home with you so you can conquer the trail less traveled and have a great time doing it.
