Ducking: It's a Jeep Thing
December 03 2020 - Ruge's CDJ
Rubber ducks are shown on a dashboard.

Driving a Jeep is basically an exclusive club at this point. Whether you're driving an old, mud-stained Jeep Wrangler or a new, sparkling Jeep Gladiator, you probably know about the classic Jeep wave. Now, Jeep owners have sparked a new craze: Jeep Ducking.

Duck, Duck, Jeep

Maybe you're not in the loop. That's okay. Everyone has to start somewhere.

So what exactly is Jeep Ducking? Like many popular crazes, it's difficult to trace exactly when and where it started. Sometime during the past year, Jeep owners started putting rubber ducks on other Jeeps they find in the wild. If you happen to be a lucky recipient of a rubber duck, your job is to post it on social media and pass it along to the next Jeep you find. There are a variety of hashtags, like #duckduckjeep and #duckingjeeps, that you can use so that others will see the little duck that was crammed in your door handle or taped to your windshield wiper.

In addition to the hashtags you can use on social media, there are also a number of Facebook groups you can join filled with fellow Jeep drivers. These Jeep drivers are crazy about putting ducks on other Jeeps, showing off personalized messages and gifts they give to each Jeep they see.

It's been reported that Jeep models of all kinds, not just the popular Wrangler, have been getting rubber ducks plastered all over them. So no matter what Jeep model you drive, it seems like you'll be welcomed as part of the exclusive Jeep club.
