What’s New for the 2024 Ram 1500?
November 15 2023 - Cody Cook
A black 2020 Ram 1500 is shown in front of a building after leaving a Ram dealer near Red Hook.

When you think of Red Hook, what comes to mind? Farmhouses, views of the Hudson Valley, perhaps a jaunt through Poet’s Walk? A warm, pleasant feeling often accompanies these classic American vistas, and what goes better with that than a truck like the Ram 1500? These pickups have been popular for decades, especially with those who live in small towns and rural areas. While the Ram 1500 is a modern truck, it has kept many of its design elements over the years and can still play the part of farm workhorse, family hauler, and parade float quite well.

The Ram 1500 is a tough, reliable truck that can handle Northeastern winters as well as it can haul and tow. You can also utilize it for your small business, camping, hunting, fishing, or other outdoor activities. With the Ram 1500 by your side, you’ll be able to do a lot more with less stress and work on your part. Hardy and reliable, this truck will continue to impress you with its abilities long after you’ve driven it off the lot. If you’ve been thinking about purchasing a pickup, it’s time to visit a Ram dealer near Red Hook and get your hands on a Ram 1500.

Is the Ram 1500 a Good Choice for Red Hook?

Some vehicles are an excellent choice in theory, while others are an excellent choice in reality. Driving a small hybrid through a Nor'Easter will be rough—if not impossible—some days, which is why many small-town drivers prefer something that can handle rough weather without too much trouble. Drivers also want something that’s safe and comfortable. So, what sort of vehicle should you look for with all of this in mind?

The Ram 1500, of course! It’s a good choice for Red Hook drivers because of its power, reliability, spaciousness, comfort, and customizability. You can choose which configuration works best for you, decide which features you want, and compare trim levels to see which makes the most sense for your daily routine. You can outfit the Ram 1500 to be the ultimate pickup, and you’ll love driving it. In a world where consistency can be hard to come by, your Ram 1500 will remain a loyal companion built to your specifications.

What Features Carry Over From 2023?

Every year, research and design teams work on what to change in their brand's models so as to keep up-to-date with new tech and regulations, offer their customers more value, and explore what could be possible for the next generation. The Ram 1500 has remained popular for so long partly because of its willingness to innovate and recreate. The 2024 Ram 1500 will still retain the best parts of the 2023 model, but it will also include enhanced features that will ensure every driver has a better experience behind the wheel than in any other pickup. The 1500 still has a bevy of powertrains—a V6 or one of two V8s—which will give you the power to tow, haul, and plow. The maximum payload stays the same as well, giving you the ability to haul up to 2,300 lbs. The same configurations will still be available, which means you can customize a 1500 with either a crew cab or a quad cab and a truck bed that measures five feet and seven inches or six feet and four inches, giving you plenty of room for passengers and cargo alike, and enough power to get everyone and everything from Point A to Point B safely and comfortably.

What’s New for the 2024 Ram 1500?

The biggest change for the Ram 1500 from 2023 to 2024 is the discontinuation of the 3.0L Ecodiesel V6 engine. The three choices that remain are the standard 3.6L Pentastar V6 with eTorque, the optional 5.7L HEMI V8 with eTorque, and the optional 6.2L Supercharged HEMI V8. These engines are all more efficient than the discontinued diesel option, so it isn’t so much of a loss as it is a sharpening of the Ram 1500’s abilities, honing your potential powertrain into a more streamlined and efficient system.

This discontinuation means that the diesel engine’s towing ability is also gone—though, again, there isn’t much to miss here. It stood halfway between the standard V6's 7,730-lb capacity and the 5.7L V8's 12,750-lb capacity, barely above the 6.2L Supercharged V8's 8,220-lb towing capacity. Depending on what you want to tow, you’ll still have a powertrain that can do more than the Ecodiesel could; you can still tow your trailer, camper, or other large item with no problem.

There will most likely be small changes made in addition to dropping the diesel engine option, but we will have to wait and see what unfolds for the future of the Ram 1500. More than likely, we’ll see some minor aesthetic changes, a few features added here and there (or made standard), and updates to cabin tech.

What’s Next for the Ram 1500?

The 2024 Ram 1500 will see some slight adjustments this year but will remain the same sturdy, hardworking truck you know and love. You’ll still be able to configure it however you like, ensuring you have a truck that fits your life to a tee. If you want a Ram 1500 with the same classic style you’ve always enjoyed, then now is the time to pick one up and drive it home.

The 2025 Ram 1500 will be vastly different due to Ram’s focus on refreshing the look and structure of this beloved pickup. While change is inevitable, there’s something about the styling and aesthetic of the current Ram 1500—a sense of vintage Americana that still lingers in pockets of the country. If you’re nostalgic for classic trucks, and you live in an area where they’re seen on the road, on the farm, on the ranch, and in town, then you will want to grab a piece of that nostalgia while you still can. There’s enough time to try something new, but right now, classic stability feels good, doesn’t it?
